This month for our Women in Technology, we are spotlighting Nitashah, one of our Sales Directors! Read about her story and how she started in technology.

Tell us your story on how you got into technology.

In 2014, I was on the job market, and I started working for a tech company in Houston. Instantly, I was intrigued. Every day, I was able to learn something new and challenge myself to learn about new technologies. Cybersecurity is a strong passion of mine.

Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Definitely not. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management and a master’s degree in business administration. I truly enjoy working with my clients and providing value for them.

How long have you been with Dataprise?

6 years.

Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

I work with clients daily to ensure that they are protecting their environment. This means educating them on new technologies that will help them prevent risks. I educate clients on what technologies they should implement in their environments to achieve the highest level of security for their assets.

What advice would you give to women considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

The Information Technology industry is very male dominated, but I would advise all women to explore a career in the IT industry. Don’t let the lack of knowledge stop you from exploring a career in IT. I think all women can thrive in this industry.

Why do you think it’s important for more women to join the tech industry? How can the broader community support women in tech?

I think it’s important for women to join the IT Industry. Women offer new ways of thinking that result in innovation and better problem-solving.

What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

The ability to make a significant impact on industry by learning/implementing new technologies, contributing unique perspectives, and having the potential to positively influence products that affect everyone. Also finding a strong community of supportive women in the field who can encourage and uplift each other; this includes the opportunity to be a role model for future generations of female tech professionals.

What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

I truly enjoy working with my clients and fostering our relationships. My clients trust me to bring the leading technologies to their attention.

What is the best professional advice you’ve ever received?

If you don’t know something, find the answer. This has helped me go far in my career. On a daily basis I come across situations where I have to do my due diligence and find answers/solutions. By doing this it has also allowed me to learn about the latest/greatest technologies and/or Cybersecurity risks.

Where do you see yourself going from here?

Currently, I am focusing on building relationships with my leadership team and my clients to add value. I will be exploring new partnerships/technologies to see how we can work together.
