Women in Technology: Meet Patty

Marissa: Tell us your story on how you got into technology?

Patti: I found myself in technology through providing assistance when there was a shortage of IT personnel within the company I was working for. I worked a night shift managing 24-hour call center offices and when there were issues with servers or anything IT related, they would reach out to me for help being that I was onsite. From there, I then started to learn more and was given access to perform password resets & Duo log-in’s and other IT related things, so I went with it. The more I learned, the more I realized that it was such a difference then what I knew, and I was out of my comfort zone for sure, but I was really enjoying the new challenges and opportunity to do something new.

Marissa: Did you always know that working in technology was what you wanted to do?

Patti No, I can say that was never a goal but happy that’s where my career has headed.

Marissa: How long have you been with Dataprise? 

Patti: I started with Dataprise in September, so just about 5 months.

Marissa: Can you share a little bit about what it is that you do and what a typical day for you is like?

Patti: I am the Workforce Management Quality Assurance Supervisor with our Technical Engineering Center (TEC) department. My days are filled with facilitating customer service trainings, running various reports, evaluations, and managing the team’s schedule. This is a new division within the TEC department so every day is different as we evolve and bring our vision to fruition.

Marissa: What is one piece of advice you would give to young women looking to get into the technology field?

Patti: In general, I would say “do what you love”. I feel that it is the most rewarding feeling when you can say that you wake up every day and love what you do.

Marissa: What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in the tech industry? What do you wish you had known?

Patti: I wish I knew how ever changing the business is and how you can grow so quickly in the field. There’s so much opportunity! We need more women in the industry – want to join me!?

Marissa: What do you think is the best part of being a woman in the tech industry?

Patti: We are setting a precedent and can use our unique experiences and knowledge to add value to any organization.

Marissa: What is it that you enjoy most about your current job at Dataprise?

Patti: My current role allows me to work closely with the TEC Engineers from a customer service standpoint. It is great to see the evolution and growth in individual call performances as we implement the trainings I’ve put together and we are seeing a lot of great successes and improvements with it. It’s nice to see that the work I’m doing is making a difference.

Marissa: Where do you see yourself going from here?

Patti: That’s a great question! I think there are a lot of possibilities and only time will tell!
